Interest

O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest if you should be believers. (Quran 2:278)

Interest (Riba) and its consumption is a grave issue, the religious significance of consuming Riba must not be overlooked.

The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same.

It is upon us to regularly investigate into our interest entries. It should not be left unattended and we must offload that amount to keep our wealth pure and utilise it for purposes that humanity could benefit from.

With the interest offload category, the fund you contribute (from your interest entry) goes into the making, repairing and maintaining road, public toilets etc,

And whatever you give for interest to increase within the wealth of people will not increase with Allah. But what you give in zakah, desiring the countenance of Allah - those are the multipliers —Qur’an
